From November 18 to 22, 2025, the 3rd China University Indoor Ski League, organized by the Chinese Students Sports Federation (CSSF), successfully concluded at the Wuxi Hot Blood Miracle Indoor Ski Resort. After several rounds of intense competition, NEFU’s Ski Team athletes stood out with their strong foundational skills, excellent performance under pressure, and persistent fighting spirit. NEFU received the Sportsmanship Award, Coach Zhang Yu was recognized as the Outstanding Coach by the Chinese Students’ Sports Association, Mu Na’er Nuermuhan, a student from NEFU’s College of Materials Science and Engineering, won the Men’s Giant Slalom National Championship in Group A and was named “Outstanding Athlete” by the CSSF, and Li Pengyu, a student from Aulin College, earned a National Third Place.

Amid the country’s strong push to promote ice and snow sports and accelerate the development of a sports powerhouse, high-level university student ice and snow competitions not only provide a platform for young ski enthusiasts to exchange skills but also serve as a vital showcase for the sporting spirit of modern university students. The event drew more than ten universities, including Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Beijing Sport University, Harbin Sport University, and Jilin Sport University, to come together and compete in an exciting race of speed and skill on the snow-covered tracks.

After the competition, Coach Zhang Yu was invited for a joint interview by several media outlets in Jiangsu Province. He explained the development history and educational philosophy of NEFU’s Ski Team, sharing inspiring stories of the team’s preparation for the competition. He also emphasized the NEFU spirit, extending its influence from campus sports to the broader public, thereby boosting the university’s social impact and promoting the growth of ice and snow sports among students.

The NEFU Ski Association, founded in 2015, has consistently organized a variety of distinctive activities, providing a platform for students to exchange and practice ice and snow sports. The ski courses offered each semester have become highly popular, with enrollment opening generating a lot of excitement. NEFU Ski Team, established in 2019, has followed the team spirit of “perseverance and courage to climb” and maintained systematic training despite limited resources. Over the years, the team has grown from nothing into something remarkable, developing a scientific training system and a unique team culture, nurturing many outstanding students who are passionate about skiing.

This competition not only showcased the optimistic spirit of NEFU students but also demonstrated the university’s active response to national strategies and its responsibility to promote ice and snow sports on campus. This honor will motivate the NEFU Ski Team to keep breaking new records in future competitions, bringing more glory to the university, energizing the campus sports culture, and helping build a sports powerhouse with NEFU’s strength.
