From June 20 to 23, the 11th National Track and Field Games for Higher Agricultural Institutions were held at Northwest A&F University in Yangling, Shaanxi Province. After four days of intense competition, Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) delivered an impressive performance, finishing seventh in the Women’s Division B Team Standings and eighth in the Overall Team Standings. These results underscored the team’s solid athletic foundation and outstanding competitive spirit on the national stage.
The event brought together nearly 1,000 student-athletes from 45 agricultural and forestry universities across China, making it one of the country’s most prestigious sporting events for these institutions. It served as a comprehensive showcase of both the competitive standards and the vibrant spirit of students from agricultural institutions nationwide. NEFU’s delegation was led by Guan Dapeng, Director of the Department of Physical Education, with Yang Rui serving as head coach. Wang Liqun and Shi Xiaolong served as official referees for the team.

As a flagship sporting event among China’s higher agricultural institutions, this year’s competition featured broad institutional participation, a large number of athletes, and an exceptionally high level of competition. Upon receiving the invitation, NEFU promptly assembled its delegation and developed a well-structured training program. Seizing the opportunity to compete at the national level, the student-athletes devoted themselves to rigorous after-class training, refining their techniques and improving their physical fitness. With enthusiasm, discipline, and determination, they prepared wholeheartedly for the competition.
NEFU sent a team of 14 outstanding track-and-field athletes who competed in 24 individual events. Throughout the competition, the athletes demonstrated remarkable determination, confidence, and resilience. Whether in sprinting, distance running, or field events, they competed fearlessly against some of the nation’s strongest university athletes. Remaining composed under pressure, they consistently delivered strong performances, pushed beyond their personal limits, and achieved personal bests in multiple events, fully embodying the perseverance, ambition, and fighting spirit of NEFU students.

The National Track and Field Games for Higher Agricultural Institutions not only provided an excellent platform for students to compete, exchange experiences, and showcase their talents but also highlighted NEFU’s achievements in promoting holistic education through sports and advancing the principle of fostering students’ all-round development. Looking ahead, the Department of Physical Education will continue to strengthen campus sports programs, steadily implement initiatives to improve students’ physical fitness, enrich athletic competitions and recreational sports activities, and further enhance our university’s sports education system. By fostering a vibrant campus culture that encourages broad participation, enjoyment of sports, and the pursuit of excellence, NEFU aims to help students build stronger bodies, develop greater resilience, and inspire more young athletes to compete on broader stages, pursue their passions, and realize their full potential through the power of sport.
