Recently, the national finals of the 17th Lanqiao Cup Competition for Software and Information Technology Professionals concluded successfully. Students from Northeast Forestry University’s (NEFU) College of Control and Information Engineering demonstrated outstanding professional knowledge and strong engineering practice skills, earning six First Prizes, eleven Second Prizes, and ten Third Prizes in the electronic engineering categories, for a total of 27 national awards. Both the number of First Prizes and the total number of awards mark NEFU’s best-ever performance since its participation in the competition.

Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) Talent Exchange Center, the Lanqiao Cup has been included in the National Ranking of Discipline Competitions for Regular Higher Education Institutions, released by the China Association of Higher Education, for six consecutive years. It is widely recognized as one of China’s largest and most influential information technology competitions. This year’s competition featured electronic engineering categories, including Microcontroller Design and Development, Embedded Systems Design and Development, Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Design and Development, and Internet of Things (IoT) Design and Development, drawing competitors from thousands of universities nationwide. To prepare for the competition, the College implemented a refined training program featuring targeted guidance, phased training, and progressive skill development. A comprehensive talent development mechanism was established, encompassing reinforcement of fundamental knowledge, advanced competition-oriented training, and pre-competition simulation exercises. The College also actively promoted its “Hand in Hand, Bridge to Success” mentoring initiative, encouraging greater student participation while fostering peer mentoring and the tradition of passing on knowledge and experience, thereby creating a vibrant culture of scientific and technological innovation.

This competition marked the College of Control and Information Engineering’s first appearance in a national academic competition since its founding. It also provided a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of the College’s talent cultivation and disciplinary development, while showcasing its ongoing efforts to deepen educational reform and advance New Engineering education. Looking ahead, the College will continue to leverage high-level academic competitions as an important platform for cultivating talent, further improve its innovation and entrepreneurship practice education system, and nurture more highly qualified engineering professionals with strong innovative thinking and practical capabilities.
