From July 17 to 19, the 17th International Conference on Green Intelligent Transportation Systems and Safety was held in Harbin. The Beijing Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) initiated the conference, and the Beijing Institute of Technology, Northeast Forestry University, and Heilongjiang Institute of Technology jointly organized it. Experts, scholars, young faculty members, and graduate students from Germany, Belgium, Italy, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and other countries, as well as from universities and research institutions across China, participated in the conference.

Established in 2010, the International Conference on Green Intelligent Transportation Systems and Safety has grown into an important international platform for academic exchange and collaboration in areas such as green transportation, intelligent transportation, transportation safety, sustainable mobility, intelligent and connected vehicles, and transportation infrastructure.

The opening ceremony was held at Northeast Forestry University on the morning of July 18. Professor Zhang Wenhui of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation at Northeast Forestry University, who served as Conference Chair, presided over the ceremony. Yu Haipeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Northeast Forestry University; Wu Biao, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Heilongjiang Institute of Technology; and Professor Wang Wuhong of Beijing Institute of Technology delivered welcome addresses.

In his remarks, Yu Haipeng said the conference would be an opportunity to strengthen further exchanges and collaboration between Northeast Forestry University and universities and research institutions in China and abroad, and to jointly contribute to China's development as a leading transportation power and to green and low-carbon development.

Wu Biao expressed the hope that participating experts would engage in extensive exchanges on cutting-edge research findings, promote the deep integration of academic research, engineering practice, and talent development, and pool expertise and collective efforts to support the transportation sector's high-quality development.

In his address, Professor Wang Wuhong expressed the hope that participants would deepen discussions on the future transportation system characterized by intelligence, safety, sustainability, and efficiency, and generate more collaborative outcomes with strong innovative value and promising prospects for practical application.

During the keynote session, seven experts from the Technical University of Munich, Hasselt University, the University of Parma, the University of Auckland, and Delft University of Technology delivered keynote presentations via a mix of in-person and online participation.

The conference featured seven parallel technical sessions for focused academic exchange. The conference proceedings included 75 research papers, and more than 120 participating experts engaged in in-depth discussions of key theories, technical methodologies, and engineering applications.

On July 19, the conference held its academic paper presentation sessions. Several faculty members from Northeast Forestry University served as session chairs, and faculty and students presented their research.
