Recently, the National Textbook Committee officially issued the Decision on the Awards of the Second National Textbook Development Awards. Wood Protection Science, edited by Academician Li Jian of Northeast Forestry University, won the First Prize for National Outstanding Textbooks, recognizing its strong academic foundation and outstanding value in teaching practice.

The National Textbook Development Awards, organized by the National Textbook Committee and presented every four years, are the highest-level national honor in China’s textbook sector. The awards reflect the highest standards and development directions in China’s textbook development and serve as an important benchmark for evaluating the effectiveness of textbook development and talent cultivation in higher education institutions.

Following a rigorous, standardized evaluation process that included applications from textbook compiling and publishing institutions, preliminary evaluation and recommendation at the local level, national preliminary review, local public notification, national final review, and public notification at the national level, a total of 975 textbooks nationwide were selected as National Outstanding Textbooks in this edition of the awards.

The recognition of NEFU’s textbook is not only a significant achievement for the teaching team, reflecting their sustained commitment to advancing academic frontiers and educating students, but also demonstrates NEFU’s long-standing commitment to the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education. It further highlights NEFU’s continued efforts to deepen educational and teaching reform and to strengthen the quality and substance of textbook development.

Over the years, NEFU has placed great importance on textbook development by strengthening overall planning and coordination, continuously improving its textbook management system, building high-level teams for textbook research and development, and establishing a tiered system for developing high-quality textbooks at the university, provincial/ministerial, and national levels. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for the ongoing production of high-quality textbooks.

In the future, NEFU will view this award as an opportunity to advance the strategic goal of making China a leading country in education. It will continue to strengthen support for textbook development, encourage faculty members to devote themselves to textbook research, development, and innovation, and advance textbook development under the 15th Five-Year Plan. NEFU will work to produce more high-quality textbooks that cultivate virtue, inspire wisdom, and broaden students’ knowledge, thereby contributing to the development of a high-quality textbook system with Chinese characteristics.
