About the Speaker

Dr. Cao Xinyu is a professor at the School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and the international authority on the research of independent choosing right of residents. His research interests include the interactive relationship between land use and transportation, the impact of telecommunication technology on traffic behavior, and life satisfaction. Cao Xinyu published more than 70 papers in the SCI and SSCI journals. According to Google academic statistics, his papers were cited more than 5,500 times, with H-index reaching 31.

Cao Xinyu is the chief editor of Transportation Research Part D, which is a SCI/SSCI journal, guest editor of six international journals, and editor of three international journals. He served as the chairman of the International Association of Chinese Planning (IACP). He is currently a member of the TRB Academic Committee.

Cao Xinyu obtained his bachelor and master degrees from the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering at Tsinghua University. He also received a master degree in statistics, and a doctoral degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Davis. In 2006 he received the most outstanding doctoral dissertation award in the direction of the US transportation policy.
