Title: Novel Functional Materials from Cellulose Esters
Speaker: Wang Yonggui
Time: 3:30pm, Dec. 27, 2016
Place: 604 Room, Engineering Building
About the Symposium
With the recent focus on sustainable development, cellulose has been attracting more and more research focus as the highest naturally occurring of all the natural polymer materials. Research of novel functional materials which are based on cellulose derivatives or nano-cellulose have also become a focus for scientists. This symposium focuses on the speaker’s research, and introduces a variety of novel functional materials from cellulose esters (cellulose octadecyl ester and cellulose undecenyl ester). The content covers super-hydrophobic materials, nanoparticles, membranes, molecular self-assembly and other fields.
About the Speaker
Wang Yonggui, doctoral candidate of Georg-August-Universität of Göttingen,Germany, has earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of material science and engineering,NortheastForestryUniversity. In 2013, he went to study in theInstituteofPolymerand Papermaking Chemistry of Technische Universität Darmstadt for a doctoral degree as a part of the “National Postgraduate Program for Building a High-Level University” sponsored by the China Scholarship Council. In 2015, he transferred to Georg-August-Universität of Göttingen to continue his doctoral research. Wang is mainly engaged in the research of smart cellulose nanomaterials, which has attracted much attention in the fields of aerogels, super-hydrophobic surfaces, smart nanoparticles, membrane technology, self-assembly of molecules/nanoparticles and so on. He has published 5 high-level SCI academic papers, including 1 published in Advanced Functional Materials (Top Journal).
Welcome all the teachers, students and other relevant personnel to visit and participate in the discussion!
