About the Speaker 

Prof. Pedro Fardim, a doctoral supervisor, now serves as the Laboratory Chief in the Department of Chemical Engineering of Åbo Akademi University (Finland), and an adjunct professor in KU Leuven. He graduated from Campinas State University with a doctoral degree in 1999. His studies focus on Polysaccharide chemistry, Fiber and cellulose chemistry, pulping and papermaking technology, and Nanomaterials. He has published over 100 research papers and made more than 60 academic presentations. He is also an editorial member ofCarbohydrate Polymers,Journal of Renewable Materials,International Journal of Lignocellulosic Products and O Papel, as well as the Vice-Director of the European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence (EPNOE).
