The 4th Belt and Road Initiative Simulation Competition, co-hosted by the Foundation for Law and International Affairs (FLIA) and East China University of Political Science and Law, was held in Shanghai from May 10th to 11th. With outstanding performance during fierce competition, the team from the NEFU School of Humanities and Law won the Group Silver Prize. Wu Xianhao was awarded the Best Diplomatic Style Award, Wang Hanqing the Best Legal Debate Award, and Professor Song Dawei the Best Coach Award. This achievement marks a breakthrough in cultivating international legal talents at NEFU.
Focusing on complex projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, the competition attracted student delegates from 68 universities nationwide. Conducted entirely in English, participating teams took on roles such as investment enterprises, host country governments, local social organizations, and intergovernmental international organizations. They engaged in multilateral negotiations on key issues, including law, environment, labor, and geopolitics, in project promotion. The event aimed to comprehensively enhance participants’ global vision, cross-cultural communication skills, and complex problem-solving abilities, thereby cultivating high-quality international legal professionals for China.
Before the competition, the School of Humanities and Law formed a team led by Professor Jing Zhen, with Professor Song Dawei as head coach, including postgraduate student Yin Aixin and undergraduates major in law including Wang Hanqing, Wu Xianhao, Wang Ting, Li Ruoying, Yu Xinping, Lv Manyu, Zhao Boyang and others. During their four months of meticulous preparation and intensive training, they systematically studied cases and refined their strategies. During the competition, students from NEFU demonstrated solid legal foundations, sharp on-site adaptability, and excellent cross-cultural communication skills, ultimately living up to expectations and achieving remarkable results.
International legal professionals, serving as a key bridge to promote rule alignment and standard integration, are vital for the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. Committed to cultivating global talents, NEFU actively aligns with national development strategies. The outstanding performance of the School of Humanities and Law team not only demonstrates NEFU’s achievements in the building of international legal professionals but also represents new progress in promoting international education and expanding global exchanges and cooperation.
