A few days ago,according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, theNEFUseries of popular science activities entitledLittle Raindrops“Scientist on Science” won the 9th Liang Xi Popular Science Award.

Theseries of popular science activities Little Raindrops“Scientist on Science” were carried out bythenon-profit student team ofLittle RaindropsPublic Welfare Classroom and thestudent entrepreneurship team ofLittle Raindrops Science Lab.

Thenon-profit team was founded in June 2016. It relies on the College’sGetting Close toNature Association, which recruits volunteers every year and uses the scientific research laboratory to provide free courseson exploring nature for children in elementary and middle schools over their winter and summer vacations. The concept of ecological civilization isspread throughout the experimental courses tocontribute wisdom tobuild a beautiful China. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the teamturned its eyes on online courses. During the winter vacation in February 2021, 115 children from 8 provinces across the country were taught via the Internet, which wasfavored by children andtheir parents.

There are35 youngadults in theLittle Raindrops Science Laboratory, among which 5 are members of the CPC,while the other 30 are members of the Youth League. By insisting on the core concept of“scientists participating in science education” andrelying on high-quality resources from universities, theyfocus on providing interactive and experiential science education and education services for teenagers and children. In 2019, the studententrepreneurial team registered as a company.

The “Little Raindrops Public Welfare Classroom” andthe “Little Raindrops Science Laboratory” werefounded as Heilongjiang Provincial PopularScienceEducationBases in 2019, and won the 9th Liang Xi PopularScience Award (activity category) this year.

Over the years,theCollege of Life Sciences hasadhered to people-oriented education, highlighted value guidance, and steadily promotedcultivating students through practice. Ittakes firm steps in ecological civilization education, organizes and leads the majority of students to learn science, understand science,use science and follow science. Relying onNEFU’s rich educational resources, experts and scholars, “little scientists”(students)areable to gettrained to organize more than a hundredseries ofpopularscience activities for elementary and middle school students, withan audience ofmore than 10,000.
