A few days ago, the second batch of 59 Chinese students from the University of Auckland and the University of Western Australia came to NEFU, and they will study here for three and a half months.

Affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, Chinese students are unable to study abroad. As a cooperative institution oftheUniversityofAuckland andtheUniversityofWestern Australia,NEFU has set uptheChina Learning Center (CLC) of Northeast Forestry University to provide a good learning environment for those Chinese international students who cannot currently go overseas. Following the success of the first phase of CLC students’ study inNEFU last year, our school welcomed the second batch of CLC students.

In order to ensure the CLC students to start their new semester safely in NEFU, before the CLC students arrived at thecampus,thedepartments ofour school closely cooperated with each other to prepare for theregular campus epidemic prevention and control, teaching services, logistical support, emergency response, student management, etc. At 7: 00 on March 5th, all the faculty and staff ofAulin College and the school epidemic prevention staffin charge of students’ return were ready to welcome the CLC students.

Liu Baichen, a CLC student who came toNEFU for the first time, said, “I feel that Northeast Forestry University has made sufficient preparations forus to registersuccessfully. Not only has our luggage and dormitory been completely disinfected, but a school bus has also taken us to the dormitory. There were also sweet little gifts for us, which enables us to study and live inNEFU at ease.”

Opening ceremony,to open a new study life inNEFU

On the morning of March 11th,the new batchChinese students fromUOA andUWA attended the opening ceremony of this semester in Conference Room 101 and Conference Room 609 ofAulin College of ouruniversity respectively. Tayyeb Shah, Vice President ofUWA, Brett Berquist, Minister of the International Department of UOA,NEFU Academic Instructors, and all faculty members ofAulin College attended the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Liu Zhiming, Dean ofAulin College, extended a warm welcome to CLC students, and encouraged them to study hard and be down-to-earth, striving to be the inheritors of Chinese culture in the new era and practitioners of cross-cultural exchanges between countries. Tayyeb Shah and Brett Berquist expressed their gratitude to Northeast Forestry University, highly appreciated and fully affirmed the work characteristics and important contributions of theNEFU CLC. On behalf of all CLC students, Gong Wenfei, a UOA student, expressed her gratitude toall the teachers of NEFUfor their hard work and wished everyone a wonderful experience and outstanding achievements inNEFU.

“Because of the impact of the epidemic situation abroad, we still can’t study abroad. This is my second visit toNEFU. Last autumn semester,NEFU provided us with a very good academic atmosphere and communication environment, and the college teachers also gave us warm and careful guidance. So this year I chose to come toAulin College to continue my CLC study.” Jiang Huiyan, a student from theUWA who chose to study atNEFU CLC for the second time, said excitedly.

The new semester has begun.NEFU will provide students with a good learning environment, life services, network security, academic tutors, etc. to help students successfully complete their learning tasks.
