Recently,A Report on the Discipline Influence and Research Output of NEFUhas been released by the library. The Report reveals that 3368 academic papers have been included in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database with total 23023 citations and 6.84 citations of each paper on average in the last decade.
In order to enhance the capacity to facilitate teaching and researching as well as to serve discipline advancement,A Report on the Discipline Influence and Research Output of NEFUwas released by the library this year. The Report is consisted of the ESI database and related concepts, the output amount and quality of NEFU disciplines included in the database, comparative analysis of competitiveness with relevant universities, and the overview of the research output of NEFU. From the perspective of literature metrology and evaluation, the Report, based on the ESI database and the InCites database, has sorted out the data of NEFU’s research achievements of 22 disciplines listed in the ESI database. Taking the institutions of higher learning with agriculture and forestry features at home and abroad as reference objects, the Report analyzes the relation between ESI ranking and the research competitiveness of disciplines, and compares NEFU with other leading universities featuring agriculture and forestry disciplines at home and abroad in terms of research achievements. The Report shows the research output of NEFU in an all-round way through the analysis of articles included in SCI and EI during the decade from 2007 to 2016.
The Report indicates that according to the latest statistics released by American ESI (Essential Science Indicators) database in November, 2016, NEFU has entered into the ESI global disciplines ranking top 1%, ranking 2190thamong 5270 universities and research institutes; ranking 146thamong 361 universities in China included in the global ranking top 1%.
It is also displayed in the Report that 3368 academic papers of NEFU (journal articles and papers included in SCI and SSCI) have been listed in the ESI database in the last decade with total 23023 citations, among which the number of academic papers of the discipline of Chemistry ranks 1stwith the total of 750, followed by the discipline of Botany and Zoology totaling 692, and the disciplines of material science and biology and biochemistry with the total of 580 and 266 respectively.
3 disciplines of NEFU have entered into the ESI global disciplines ranking top 1%, which are Botany and Zoology, Chemistry and Agricultural Science.
Among the disciplines that have not listed in the ESI global disciplines ranking top 1%, the most potential dominant disciplines of NEFU that are close to the top 1% are Material Science, Engineering Science, Biology and Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Environmental Science and Ecology.
Over the past decades, the amount of academic papers of NEFU included in SCI and EI has been on the rise year by year. In 2007, the number of papers included in SCI and EI was 198, which increased by 4.43 times totaling 877 in 2016.
The InCites database shows that academic papers of NEFU included in SCI have been published on 1014 kinds of journals at home and abroad during the period from 2007 to 2016. 144 academic papers have been published onBioResources, which ranks 1stin terms of the number of papers among the journals and is included in JCR (part 1) with the IF of 1.334 (2015). The citation frequency of the articles published onFood Chemistryranks 1st(840), which is included in JCR (part1) with the IF of 4.052(2015).
The top 3 institutions that have collaborated with NEFU in publishing academic papers are Harbin Institute of Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, while the top 3 partner countries are the United States, Japan and Germany.
