At the invitation of Vishiri Mikhailovich, vice president of the Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University, Zhao Yusen, vice president of Northeast Forestry University, led a delegation to visit the University from April 6 to 20, 2017.
Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University, formerly known as Huangcun Forestry College, was founded in 1803. This University is one of the best technical universities in Russia. The university has a total of 7 departments; forestry economics, forestry engineering, wood machinery technology, forestry machinery, chemistry and biology, economic management and humanities. There are two education, research and practice bases in the university, the Okhots test farm and the Rising test teaching forest, with unique forest entomology, forest zoology, hunting museum, and soil geology museum.
Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University began to educate foreign students in 1953, and has trained more than 3,000 forestry experts for over 40 countries. There are more than 30 Chinese students currently study at the university. NEFU and Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University have a long history of communication, - the famous expert B.A. Kurikov was invited to our university to teach China's first mechanical wood processing class for postgraduates in 1956.
During the visit, Vice President Zhao Yusen held talks with Andrei Alkajiyevich, Vice-president of the Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University. The two sides introduced each other to the overall situation and the international exchange and cooperation of the universities, and conducted in-depth talks on strengthening international academic and scientific research cooperation, teacher-student communication and foreign student training. NEFU and Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University signed theCooperation Agreement between Northeast Forestry University (China, Harbin) and Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University (Russia, Saint Petersburg), which indicates the official establishment of a friendly cooperative relationship between these two universities. After the talk, the NEFU delegation visited the museum of Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University.
The delegation also held an enrollment promotion for Northeast Forestry University in Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University, and gave a detailed introduction to NEFU, the Chinese Government Scholarship Program, and the short-term student exchange program. The presentation was followed by a question and answer time in which the Russia teachers and students showed great interest in the programs.
