Recently, in accordance with relevant standards of theNational Workers Pioneer Selection Management Interim Measures(issued by FTU, [2011] No. 77), a research and innovation team of biomass materials led by an academician—Professor Li Jian, won theHeilongjiang Workers Pioneertitle, after being selected by the Federation of Trade Unions of Heilongjiang Province.
Since being founded by Professor Li Jian in the late 1980s, the biomass material research and innovation team has kept up with the needs of the times, opening up new directions of wood science, and continuously moving forward the discipline. The team has created several research fields such as wood protection, biological xylology, wood spectroscopy, wood bionics, wood carbon, biomass composites, and bio-based new materials, which were included in national secondary key echelon in 2001 and later in national key disciplines, and were ranked first in the country after three rounds of the national level assessment. Now these disciplines are among “985 platform” disciplines, and the top 1% of ESI global disciplines.
The team took the lead in listing the first key laboratory of the Ministry of Education in NEFU, and building the first innovation base in the field. The team has so far completed more than 100 national projects and made prominent progress in many fields such as: the early prediction of industrial materials and quality analysis, wood material improvement and functional key technologies, new wood flame retardant synthesis and application of promotion, wood-plastic composite extrusion Manufacturing technology and application. Among them, a number of scientific research achievements have been successfully transformed. In addition, the team members have obtained more than 200 patents, published more than 600 SCI papers and received numerous awards, including 4 prizes ofthe second prize of National Science and Technology, the Science and Technology Awards of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, the Provincial Major Science and Technology Efficiency Award, 6 prizes ofthe Provincial Science and Technology Award,and 15 prizes ofscience and technology awards at the provincial and ministerial level.
The biomass materials research and innovation team has carried out research and education work with rigorous attitude, enthusiasm and selfless spirit. They have made outstanding contributions to biomass materials and scientific research field of our country and teaching and scientific research field of our university.
