For better propelling teaching and learning forward and other related scientific research work after receiving the subsidize of International Cooperation Department, College of Science invited professor Xu Qiang from America Lamar University to visit NEFU and give lectures from June. 5thto 16th, and he was employed as the guest professor by NEFU.
On June.9th, Professor Xu Qiang gave an academic report about “Dynamic Simulation and Optimization for Cost-effective and Air-quality Conscious Industrial Emission Reduction” to some teachers, graduate students and undergraduates of College of Science. For the next week, Xu Qiang gave lectures of professional curriculums about Analysis and Synthesis of Chemical Process to undergraduates of 2014 majored in Chemical Engineering and Technology, and he received extensive praise from them. On June.16th, Professor Xu Qiang was employed as the guest professor officially by NEFU for three years, and the Dean of College of Science, Qi Dawei awarded employment certificate for him. During the period of giving lectures, Professor Xu Qiang also participated in activities of academic discussion and scientific project with many teachers and students of Chemical Engineering major.
Professor Xu Qiang attended Chemical Engineering major of Qinghua University in 1993 and got bachelor degree of Chemical Engineering and Technology in 1998. He continued further education for PHD at Qinghua University without attending examination, and his supervisor was the expert of chemical engineering system, Chen Ruizhen, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). Then, he got doctorate of Chemical Engineering in Qinghua University on Jan. in 2003. From Mar. to Aug. in 2003, Xu Qiang worked forWayne State University in Americaand continued his postdoctoral research. Since September, 2005, he was employed in Chemical and Engineering major of Lamar University in America, and he won Excellence in Process Development Research Award from AIChE Association in 2016.
The professional emphasis of Professor Xu Qiang is Chemical Process System Engineering, which refers to systematically use modern information technology and various calculation measures to analyze and solve every “soft” and “hard” problems of complex chemical system and achieve the best design, decision, control, and management for the whole system. At present, he has already taken charge of 47 projects including America National Science Foundation, America government and enterprise projects and etc., accumulating 2.7 million dollars. Also, he has published over 100 SCI thesis in periodical of chemical and engineering and has been specially invited to over 200 lectures and international conference report. He now takes the Chair of Technical Transformation of Process Development Department and Production Branch Department in AIChE and the Commissary in Charge of Organization of Green Chemical Process Branch Department of Industry and Engineering Department in ACS. Also, he hosted the branch lectures of international conferences for over 30 times. Besides, he is the reviewer for projects of NSF and 39 international magazines.
