The Director of the Renewable Materials and Bio-energy Research Center of the Forestry and Natural Resources Department from WVU, Professor Wang Jingxin, visited NEFU. On July 17thafternoon, NEFU held conference at No. 8 Conference Room, Administrative Building, and the Vice President, Zhao Yusen attended it. Other responsible people of relevant units, like the Office of Academic Affairs, the College of Engineering and Technology, the School of Forestry, the College of Material Science and Engineering, the College of Wildlife Resources etc., also attended this conference.
Professor Wang Jingxin is an alumnus of NEFU, who majored in Forestry Engineering in 1983. He has been employed by NEFY as a foreign expert of Forestry Engineering since 2007 and given academic lectures in biomaterial, bio-energy and so on.
The Vice President, Zhao Yusen, introduced the situation of international exchange of NEFU and the assumption of training talents, academic exchange and scientific research cooperation. He said that he hoped this deep communication and discussion can make the cooperation be smooth.
Professor Wang Jingxin introduced the disciplines and faculty of the College of Agriculture and Forestry in WVU. He also talked about the course designing and research orientation of some majors, including Energy and Land Management, Forestry Resource Management, Wild Animals and Fishery Resource etc.
In the conference, the discussion about course designing, English training for students and other issues were made. Also, the cooperation method for training talents of “3+1+1” and “2+2” was mentioned as well. Both of the universities wished to reach a further cooperation.
The training model of “3+1+1” means that students finish taking 3-year courses in NEFU, then do graduation project and thesis in WVU, and for the last year, student study and earn credits at WVU. Finally, students can get bachelor degree of NEFU and graduate degree of WVU. The training model of “2+2” means that students finish taking 2-year courses in NEFU, and then take 2-year courses in WVU. Finally, students can get the bachelor degree of the two universities.
