On August 30, the proposal for the National Park for Amur Tiger and Amur Leopard project was demonstrated at NEFU. The demonstration meeting was organized by the Administration of the National Park for Amur Tiger and Amur Leopard. Experts from the State Forestry Administration, the Siberia Tiger Park of Heilongjiang Province, the Academy of Forestry of Jilin Province, the Wildlife Institute of Heilongjiang Province, and other experts from related forestry bureaus and natural reserves attended the meeting. Fu Junqing, the deputy director of the Administration of the National Park for the Amur Tiger and Amur Leopard, presided over the meeting. NEFU vice president Zhou Hongli gave a speech.
The proposal was commissioned by the Administration of the National Park for Amur Tigers and Leopards, and was compiled by the felidae research center of the State Forestry Administration and NEFU. The Administration of the National Park for Amur Tiger and Amur Leopard is the first national park institution directly managed by the central government. It was established in Changchun, Jilin province on August 19, symbolizing that the protection of the Amur tigers and leopards has taken a substantive step.
During the demonstration meeting, vice president Zhou Hongli said that the compilation of the proposal was undertaken by NEFU, which shown the trust of the Administration of the National Park for Amur Tiger and Amur Leopard in us. The director of the Administration, Zhao Li, said that NEFU has long been committed to the protection and research of large feline animals, and has made an important contribution to the protection and management of Amur tigers and leopards. NEFU is an important technical support university for the future development of the National Park for Amur Tigers and Leopards.
Ma Jianzhang, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, presided over the demonstration meeting. Professor Jiang Guangshun, executive vice director of the felidae research center of the State Forestry Administration, made a report on the protection, management and restoration, and ecological monitoring. Pan Xinhong from Jilin Forestry Survey Planning Institute reported on the construction of the marking system. Experts discussed the content of the project, estimated the investment, and recommended further improvements, in order to report to the National Development and Reform Commission as soon as possible.
