On the afternoon of October, 17th, the Inauguration & Orientation for the 2017 Overseas Freshmen was held in the International Conference Hall, the Wildlife Resources Building. Li Bin, president and deputy secretary of the CPC Party Committee of NEFU, Zhao Yusen, vice president of NEFU, heads of relevant departments, teacher representatives, the staff of the School of International Education and Exchanges as well as all the overseas students attended the inauguration. Qiao Fenghe, dean of the School of International Education and Exchanges, presided over the inauguration.
Zhao Yusen, vice president of NEFU announced the award list of “Excellent Overseas Student Tutors”, “Excellent Overseas Student Instructors”, “Excellent Overseas Students”, “Excellent Overseas Student Caders” and “Individual Awards for Overseas Students”. 7 teachers and 14 overseas students won the prizes and the prize winners were awarded the certificates of honor by the two NEFU leaders.
Li Bin, president of NEFU, extended the warm welcome and sincere wishes to the 125 overseas students from 32 countries and regions on behalf the faculty and staff of NEFU. He expressed that the arrival of the overseas students has brought multicultural vitality to this forestry higher institution located in the north of China, spreading its prestige by cultivating a multitude of talented graduates all over the globe. Since the founding of NEFU, our university has produced more than 130000 excellent graduates, serving as the fertile soil to foster the growth of overseas students and the motivating harbor to inspire their development.
President Li Bin, gave a detailed introduction to NEFU and expressed his hope from three perspectives: the first perspective is to hope that they can set up high ideal, pursue their aspiration and brilliance and study assiduously so as to fulfill their own “Chinese Dreams”; the second perspective is to hope that they can cherish friendship, learn to tolerate, endeavoring to promote mutual understanding and learning between China and the rest of the world; the third perspective is to hope that they can act as the bond for the international exchanges between China and the world; the third perspective is to hope that they can maintain moral integrity, observe laws and rules of China as well as the regulations of NEFU to become a member of the family of NEFU as soon as possible. Finally, Li Bin, president of NEFU, expressed his sincere wishes, hoping that the overseas students can achieve success in academics, enjoy delight in life and spend splendid and unforgettable college years in NEFU.
Cao Yukun, professor and “Excellent Overseas Student Instructor”, Cao Haiyan, associate professor and “Excellent Overseas Student Teacher”, Anny, an overseas student from Egypt, Ruan Huangfeng, an overseas student from Vietnam delivered speeches on behalf of teachers, enrolled students and freshmen respectively during the inauguration.
During the Orientation after the inauguration, Jin Yunlong, police officer of the Exit and Entry Division of Harbin Municipal Public Security Bureau, gave the relevant cautions to the overseas students during their stay in China. In addition, the staff of the School of International Education and Exchanges offered detailed information about the relevant regulations and requirements of both China and NEFU for a variety of aspects including academic affairs, routine management, living services and enrollment publicity.
In recent years, NEFU has paid close attention to the overseas education, taken an initiative to follow the national development strategies and increasingly enhanced our comprehensive strength and international influence in an effort to advance the rapid development of internationalization of NEFU by means of driving the advancement of overseas education with superior subjects and disciplines. With the gradual perfection of the teaching and cultivation system of overseas education, the improvement of the educational management system, the upgrading of facilities and infrastructure, NEFU has accomplished remarkable achievements in various respects such as scale, quality and benefits in the field of overseas education. NEFU is determined to further establish a global vision, aiming at fostering outstanding international talents with both specialized knowledge and Chinese feelings and strive to develop NEFU into a leading forestry university in the world and cultivate prominent forestry talents around the world.
