On the afternoon of May 2nd, the delegation of Aston University headed by Vice-Chancellor Alec Cameron and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Saskia Loer Hansen visited NEFU to discuss about cooperative cultivation programs. The discussion was held in the Conference Room on the 8th Floor of the Administrative Building and President Li Bin, Vice President Li Shunlong and directors of relevant departments such as Department of International Cooperation, Office of Academic Affairs, College of Economics and Management, College of Civil Engineering and College of Foreign Languages were present. Li Xinqing, President of Australia Education Management Group visited NEFU along with the delegation headed by Vice-Chancellor Alec Cameron.
President Li Bin introduced NEFU, focusing on the cultivation of undergraduates, scientific research, international education and exchanges. He noted that the approval of the cooperative programs for Engineering Management Major by the Ministry of Education and the forthcoming enrollment marked that the collaboration between Aston University and NEFU had stepped into the substantial phase. President Li Bin hoped that the cooperation between our two universities would be further enhanced and advanced, attaining new achievements in scientific research and cultivation of talents at the undergraduate level as well as higher levels.
Vice-Chancellor Alec Cameron expressed that the excellent professional qualities of NEFU students left a deep impression on the teachers of Aston University. Currently, NEFU has become the most important partner of Aston University in China. Vice-Chancellor Alec Cameron hoped that in the future, the two universities would conduct in-depth cooperation at various levels including cultural exchange, talent cultivation and scientific research.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Saskia Loer Hansen said that AstonUniversity attached great importance to the collaboration with NEFU and would send academic groups to pay special visits to NEFU one after another with the purpose of discussing about program design and ensuring the accomplishment of cooperative programs with high quality. Aston University also encourages its students to go to NEFU for short-term study, which can promote the cross-cultural communication among students.
During the discussion, both sides talked about a diverse range of issues such as the course design for Engineering Management Major, scholarship incentive system, short-term exchanges and mutual visits and conducted an in-depth discussion on the cooperative cultivation program for Accounting Major.
In January, 2018, the cooperative cultivation program for Engineering Management Major at the undergraduate level between NEFU and Aston University was approved by the Ministry of Education. According to the program, from 2018 to 2022, the number of annual planned enrollment is 120. The enrollment is included in the regular higher education admission plan and the candidates have to participate in the College Entrance Examination and live up to the relevant admission specifications and requirements. After admission, the “3+1” cultivating model will be followed (3 years in NEFU and 1 year in Aston University). The courses and credits of NEFU and Aston University are mutually acceptable. Those who have met requirements of NEFU for graduation and Bachelor’s Degree will be awarded academic certificates and diplomas by NEFU, whilst those who are eligible for graduation and Bachelor’s Degree of Aston University will be conferred Bachelor’s Degree by Aston University.
