On November 13, the results of the 3rd “SUEP Cup” — the National Science and Technology Translation Competition were announced, and Fan Mengdie and Li Yushan, the MTI students of class 2020 from the School of Foreign Languages, won two prizes for excellence in the English-Chinese translation group and the Chinese-English translation group, respectively.
The competition was organized by the Shanghai Science and Technology Translation Society under the guidance of the Science and Technology Translators Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Translation Service Committee of Translators Association of China, and was hosted by the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai University of Electric Power. The competition aims to further promote talent cultivation and achievement transformation in the field of scientific and technological translation in China, as well as the healthy development of scientific and technological translation, and to encourage the participation of students from all colleges and universities. This year, a total of 14,629 students applied for the competition, including 8,626 candidates in English-Chinese translation group and 6,603 candidates in the Chinese-English translation group. Based on the principle of “self-improvement and diligent study”, our MTI students actively participated in this competition and prepared carefully in the process of translation. Finally, Fan Mengdie and Li Yushan won prizes for excellence and Professor Zhai Shu and Professor Qi Yan won Excellent Instructor Awards.
