On the afternoon of December 3, the Academic Forum for International Students in Northeast Forestry University was held in conference room 101 of the AuLin building. More than a hundred domestic and foreign students and faculty members were present in this forum, while over 50 international students participated in it through Tencent meeting online. Expert judges consisted of Vice President Li Shunlong, Vice Dean of the College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Resource Utilization Tang Zhonghua, Vice Dean of the College of Landscape Architecture He Miao, Vice Dean of the College of Life Science Lan Xingguo, Vice Dean of the School of Traffic and Transportation Zhang Wenhui and Prof. Cao Chuanwang from the School of Forestry. The Indonesian student Nadia, Class of 2018 postgraduate who majors in Food Science of the School of Forestry and Wang Kaifeng, a sophomore who is studying the Electronic Information Engineering in the School of Information and Computer Engineering acted as hosts.
The Vice-president said that the academic forum served as a vital platform for Chinese and international students to exchange academic thoughts and achievements. He hoped that NEFU students would pay close attention to the frontier research findings and development tendencies in their own disciplines as well as interdisciplinary studies, inspire their creative thinking to gain more progress on study through this forum, and contribute to the forestry development and global economic growth in post-epidemic era. He also hoped that all colleges in NEFUwould uphold academic, innovative, inclusive and continuous cultivation, build a high-level platform for exhibits and exchanges of academic achievements, promote the communication between the international students and Chinese teachers as well as students, strengthen the international students education and scientific research constantly to boost the“Double First Class” implementation and international development of education.
The theme of this forum is“Working Together and Seekinga Common Development inaPost-epidemic era” with 26 Chinese and foreign students submitting their papers and 7 students from China, Indonesia, Congo, Pakistan, Tunisia delivering keynote speeches. Directed at the topic, those students shared their scientific research thoughts and findings on forestry, wildlife protection, life sciences, forestry economics and management, and other related issues with the help of their professional studies. Furthermore, their high-quality papers, exquisite presentations and reports with great enthusiasm had been highly praised by all students and faculty members onlineand offline.
After the keynote speeches, evaluation experts and teachers fromthe School of International Education and Exchanges awarded certificates and prizes tothewinners.
Students who participated in this activitysaid that this forum provided a good platform accessible for them to widen their research thoughts and enhance academic communications. Moreover, they would continue to discuss with others after the meeting to improve their studies, and look forward a better show in the next forum.
