On December 21, the China Museum Association issued the Announcement on the Fourth Batch of National First, Second and Third-class Museums, in which the China (Harbin) Forest Museum of NEFU was upgraded to the National Second-class Museum.

At present, there are only 12 museums rated as national second-class and above among the more than 450 university museums across China. The China (Harbin) Forest Museum is the only museum that has been rated as national second-class among China’s forestry universities, and it is also the only university museum among the national-level museums in Heilongjiang Province.

In order to promote the high-quality development of museums, optimize the layout of the museum system, improve the museum quality evaluation system, and meet the people’s growing needs for a better life, the China Museum Association organized the fourth batch of rating evaluation on national museums from July to December 2020.  The CPC committee of NEFU attached great importance to it, and established the Museum Academic Committee headed by Academician Li Jian, and the National Museum Rating Application Team headed by Vice President Li Shunlong, and held the Application Coordination Meeting of the relevant functional departments in NEFU.  With the support and cooperation of the relevant departments and experts, the museum members carefully analyzed, sorted out, modified and improved the materials required for the rating application, then submitted on time and successfully passed the qualification review, expert review, data comparison, comprehensive evaluation and recordation of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

The rating upgrading of the China (Harbin) Forest Museum has enriched the connotation of NEFU culture and enhanced the influence of the museum. The museum will take the opportunity to better strengthen museum construction and better integrate General Secretary Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization concept of Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets into NEFU’s museum development and construction.
