OnFebruary 26, 2021, the results of the 11th Global "One Hundred Translators" Translation Contest were announced. A total of nine MTI studentsfrom theNEFUCollege of Foreign Languages were awarded. Peng Qian and Zheng Jianwei won the second prize, while thesevenother students, Wu Xuanke, Ge Hongxia, Qi Na, Li Yushan, Jiang Ying, Jin Jiao and Cheng Fan won the third prize.

The competitionwas jointly organized by the Global "One Hundred Translators" Translation Contest OrganizingCommittee and the Confucius Institute atthe Mona Campus of the University ofthe West Indies, who awarded the certificates together.The standard of thisChinese -English translation competition is "faithfulness, expressiveness, elegance + personal preference of the reviewers". The ranking of the competition isbased onthe votes of7 native English speakers and3 Chinese judges whose votes are rated as Excellent (A), Very Good (B) and Good (C) respectively. The first, second and third prizes are determined according to the number of votes won. The participants are supposed to translate A Classical Ballad of the Yuefu Poetry, andthey are from nearly 100 well-known institutions of higher learning in the world and other organizations, includingUniversity of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Central South University, Lanzhou University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Ren Min University of China, Beijing Jiaotong University, Taiyuan University of Technology, Columbia University, UC Santa Barbara and China Media Group.

After signing up for the competition, MTI students spared no effort to prepare for the competition, and finally achieved a good result. The success of the nine students in this competition is not only due to their own efforts and their teachers' guidance, but also due to the Talents Training Policy ofthe College of Foreign Languages. On one hand, in order to cultivate more innovative talents, the College of Foreign Languages always adheres to the people-oriented principle, meets the major needs of our society, optimizes and adjusts the structure of its disciplines and majors, as well as innovates the talent training mode. On the other hand, the college strives to build an education system with distinctive characteristics and reasonable structure, in order to cultivate high-quality talents with moral sentiment and profound knowledge.
