Recently, the 2021WUPENiCity International Urban Design Student Assignment Competition and the International Urban Sustainability Research Report Competition came to an end. 24 students and 7 instructorsfrom Northeast Forestry University have received multiple awards in the competition,with two Gold Awards and three Gold Award nominations for the Urban Sustainability Research Reportandtwo Gold Award nominations for the Urban Design Student Assignment.

WUPENiCity International Competitions on Urban Sustainability Reports and on Students Course works of Urban Design, organized by the World Planning Education Organization, UNESCO iCity Smart City Service Platform and Frontiers of Urban Planning in China, was a competitionopento all universities worldwide that set up urban and rural planning and related majors two years ago. In 2020, the competition was organized by the World Organization for Planning Education, which is now the highest and most authoritative competition for urban and rural planning major students in China.

A total of 1,768 works were received, attracting nearly 3,500 students and teachers from dozens of institutions from around the world, including Universitetet i Oslo in Norway, Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Tongji University. 50 Gold Awards, 100 Nomination Awards (including Gold Award candidates) and 20 Popularity Awards were selected for each of the two events.

Students from the NEFU College of Landscape Architecture have been actively participating in the WUPENiCity International Competitions since it was launched. In 2020, we submitted 11 works, and 5 were nominated for the Gold Award. 16 works were submitted this year, and 7 of them won different awards, including 5 for the Urban Sustainable Development Research Report, 3 of which were nominated for the Gold Award. The workThe Health and Architectureof the City in the Post-epidemic Era,instructed by Jiao Hong, Ren Zhihua and Cui PengandThe Study on the Evaluation of the Conservation and Utilization of Revolutionary Sites in Harbin and Strategies for Optimization,supervised by Wan Ting and Ren Zhihua stood out in the end and won a gold award. The results of this year's competition broke the NEFU record for best results in the WUPENiCity International Competition, and fully demonstrated the comprehensive strength of our talent training for urban planning students.

CAE Member Wu Zhiqiang, chairman of the competition jury,extendedhiscongratulationsto our President Li Bin, congratulating the teachers and students of theCollegeof Landscape Architecture and Urban and Rural Planning for their achievements in the competition. He also thanked NEFU foritsgreat support to the competition and to the education of planning and designmajorson behalf of the competition organizing committee. President Li Bin expressed his heartfelt thanks for thecongratulationsfrom Wu, and congratulated the teachers and students of urban and rural planning for winning the award. He hoped that the teachers and students of urban and rural planning would continue to work hard,make greatachievements, and create further glory for the construction of "Double First-Class" in NEFU.
