Recently, the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition hosted by the Chinese Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics came to an end. A total of 157 teams of the NEFU participated in the competition, winning 1 national first prize, 6 national second prizes, 43 provincial first prizes, 32 provincial second prizes, and 22 provincial third prizes. The quality and quantity of awards rank the second among the colleges and universities in Heilongjiang Province.

Founded in 1992, the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition is held once a year. It is one of the first 19 competitions to be selected into the College Discipline Competition Ranking. In 2021, about 140,000 people signed up for the competition, coming from 1,566 colleges or campuses, and forming 49,529 teams (including 4,457 undergraduate teams and 4,454 teams for junior colleges) from China, the United States, Malaysia and other countries.

By participating in this competition, the contestants’ innovative thinking and hands-on ability have been fully exercised, and their ability to study and solve problems and teamwork spirit have been cultivated.
