On December 26, the Award Ceremony of the 16th National College Students Intelligent Automobile Competition Outdoor Special Contest ended. The two teams organized by the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of the NEFU won the national first prizes in both the outdoor driverless bicycle challenge and the outdoor intelligent driving racing.

The National College Students Intelligent Automobile Competition is a national discipline competition entrusted by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the Teaching Steering Committee of Automation Majors in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education. So far, it has been held for 16 times. The competition is also the first to be listed in the National General Colleges and Universities Discipline Competition Ranking issued by the Chinese Society of Higher Education. In order to be closer to industrialization, the competition held an outdoor special contest for the first time, which put forward higher requirements for students’ innovation and practical ability. The event is committed to cultivating innovative talents in the era of artificial intelligence for the automobile industry and helping the development of the national smart automobile industry.

It is the last competition participated by students of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering this year. Due to the cold weather in the northeast, it is impossible to truly restore the outdoor competition environment, and can only be played indoors. However, the participating players lived up to expectations, overcame many difficulties, debugged and improved the competing equipment, and finally achieved excellent results in the national final through online competition.
