On the afternoon of May 1, the opening ceremony of NEFU’s“China-Africa Friendship”Chinese Government Scholarship Training Program for Advanced Students was held online. More than 20 students from universities in 8 African countries such as Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, and Tanzania participated in the program. Zou Hongfei, Dean of College of Wildlife Resources, Luo Ying, Dean of School of International Education and Exchanges, Zhang Peng, Deputy Dean of School of Forestry, and related teachers attended the opening ceremony.

On behalf of the school, Luo Ying extended a warm welcome to students who participated in the training program, and briefly introduced them to the school and school’s advantageous and characteristic disciplines, and shared the fruitful achievements of our school in international exchanges and cooperation, international talent training, etc., hoping that this training program would enhance our school’s communication with friendly African universities and colleges and explore multi-level and multi-channel educational cooperation. Zou Hongfei and Zhang Peng respectively introduced the major characteristics and discipline development of the colleges, the curriculum design and training objectives of this program, and hoped that the students would seize the valuable learning opportunities to further broaden their international horizons and improve professional skills. Liu Lifei introduced the specific learning requirements to the students.

BLAY ISSAC from Ghana and OWITI, MILLICENT ANYANGO from Kenya spoke as representatives of the students. They said that they were very honored to have the opportunity to participate in this program and they would definitely abide by the learning requirements, earnestly learn professional knowledge, understand Chinese culture, and strive to play a role of bridge and link in enhancing friendship between China and Africa.

The program was jointly declared by School of Forestry, College of Wildlife Resources and School of International Education and Exchanges. The training period is three months. The implementation of the program will help strengthen the international educational exchanges and cooperation between our university and African universities, and further enhance the level of NEFU’s international schooling and international influence.
