In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress, fully implement the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Ministry of Education on the employment of college graduates, further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation with employers, and promote high-quality employment of graduates, on the morning of March 29, the Spring Supply and Demand Meeting for 2023 Graduates was held in the gymnasium, which set up a job-hunting platform for many NEFU students.
As the first offline job meeting since the end of the epidemic, 265 enterprises offered more than 18,000 jobs. According to the nature of the participating enterprises, the site was divided into central and state-owned enterprises zone, a Heilongjiang talent attraction zone and foreign universities zone, to meet the needs of graduates of different degrees and majors to both find jobs and study abroad. Among all the enterprises, central and state-owned accounted for 39.72%, manufacturing industries 38.69%, and the industries of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery 12.06%.
Zhang Zhikun, the Party secretary of the university, and Song Wenlong, the president, visited the representatives of the employers on the spot. They communicated with the representatives in detail to understand the recruitment needs of the employers under the new situation and asked for their opinions and suggestions on talent training, discipline construction, employment services and other aspects of our university.
“Our graduates are excellent in both professional quality and personal cultivation. I hope you can leave good resources and good positions to them.” At the meeting, Zhang Zhikun and Song Wenlong recommended the graduates to the enterprise representatives.
The leaders also communicated with the graduates and inquired about the progress of the job search. “How many resumes have you sent out?” “Are there any responses?” “If there is a need for our help, you can tell us.” The caring and intimate words made the graduates’ heart warm.
On the same day, the leading group members of the colleges and the graduate counselors came to the scene and made in-depth communication with the employers to help determine job resources. In front of the booth of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Heilongjiang Branch, Zhang Yanbo, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Economics and Management, held the pamphlet of the introduction of the bank, looked at it in detail and asked for relevant information: “What are your specific requirements for management trainees, science and technology elites, and account managers? What are your training methods? Are there internships for juniors?” The employer made a brief answer one by one, and the two sides left contact information. Zhang Yanbo handed the brochure of his college to the employer, looking forward to a long-term and extensive contact between the two sides in the future, to build a fast and convenient channel for college graduates to find jobs.
“Now the employment situation is grim, we have given much employment guidance to the undergraduates and the graduates, hoping that they set up a correct view of employment and career, and that they can use such a platform as the ‘double selection meeting’ to find the positions suitable for them.” Wang Jiatong, the Party secretary of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, said. He was on hand to guide the college’s graduates on how to choose the right position.
This year, NEFU has 4,744 graduates with a bachelor’s degree and 2,793 graduates with master’s degrees. On the scene, the graduates, one after another with their resumes in hand, approached the booths, introduced their personal experiences and asked about the career development, hoping that they could find the best “target” in the shortest time. Zhou Wanli, a 2023 graduate of Landscape Architecture major in the College of Landscape Architecture, signed an employment agreement last year. Because his classmates were busy doing internships, he took more than 20 copies of resumes of 3 classmates to help deliver them. Wang Ziying, a 2022 graduate of Computer Science and Technology from the College of Information and Computer Science Engineering, who failed twice in the postgraduate entrance examination, learned about the “double selection meeting” through the publicity of the university media and the messages forwarded by her teachers and friends. She left Daqing early in the morning and arrived at the scene by train. “Graduate school is not the only choice. I now want to find a suitable job. I have found 5 good companies in the meeting today and sent my resume to them. I am looking forward to receiving good news.”
In order to effectively promote the success rate of the graduates’ job hunting, the “double selection meeting” also set up an innovative “job hunting gas station” including three areas of interview, resume and decision-making, to provide more accurate employment guidance and more warm services for students attending the meeting. In addition, the “double selection meeting” also set up a separate room for communication and negotiation between the university and the enterprises, so as to facilitate the colleges and employers to make subsequent cooperation such as visiting enterprises to expand posts, deepening cooperation and exchange, and building employment base for paid internship and graduate practice.
“Spring is a key period for graduates to find jobs. In accordance with the Ministry of Education’s action theme of ‘Seizing the critical period of spring recruitment and making every effort to promote employment’, more than 280 job meetings have been held since the beginning of March, involving more than 700 enterprises. In less than 100 days before the graduation of the graduates, we held such a ‘double selection meeting’, aiming to build an efficient ‘two-way selection’ platform for employers and graduates, to help the graduates to find employment as soon as possible,’’ Wang Qiang, the deputy director of the Employment Guidance and Cooperative Development Office, said.
Hosted by the Employment Guidance and Cooperative Development Office and undertaken by the College of Information and Computer Science Engineering, the “double selection meeting” was broadcast live on the “Donglin employment official public account”.
