At a time when teachers and students of NEFU are studying Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, on May 8, the 42nd Heilongjiang Province “Bird Care Week” launch ceremony was held at the College of Wildlife and Protected Areas. Members of the leadership team of the College of Wildlife and Protected Area and comrades in charge of NEFU’s Youth League Committee attended the event. 

The theme of this year’s “Bird Care Week” is “Ten Thousand Feathers Gather, A Migratory Bird Paradise”. The event was co-organized by Northeast Forestry University, the Heilongjiang Zoological Society, the Wildlife Protection Division of the Heilongjiang Forestry and Grassland Bureau, the Editorial Department of the Journal of Wildlife, the Science and Technology Innovation Alliance of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration of Nature, and the Wildlife Conservation Society, and was hosted by the NEFU College of Wildlife and Protected Areas. 

At the ceremony, Wu Qingyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, called on everyone to participate in the activities of “Bird Care Week”, to merge theory and practice, to become the main force in building ecological civilization, and to make more contributions to the construction of a beautiful China. Zou Hongfei, Dean of the College, introduced the series of activities of “Bird Care Week” and announced the official launch of the event.

During “Bird Care Week”, the College of Wildlife and Protected Areas will also carry out a series of activities such as bird photography exhibitions, bird watching competitions and lectures on bird knowledge; set up a Party branch and a functional Youth League branch of the Bird Care Society and a nature education mission to carry out ecological civilization education and help build ecological civilization. 

Cao Jingling, a student of Class 1, Wildlife and Nature Reserve Management 2021, said that as students of NEFU, we should practice the concept of ecological civilization, carry forward the spirit of Saihanba, guard the green water and mountains, build a firm ecological barrier, carry out ecological civilization construction and implement the spirit of the 20th Party Congress with practical actions.
