From July 26th to 28th, the 5th National Competition of Comprehensive Competence of Engineering Practical Training for Food Major (Finals) of “Obier Cup” was held as scheduled under the guidance of the Teaching Guidance Committee of Food Science and Engineering in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, hosted by Jiangnan University, and organized by Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University. The National Competition (Finals) attracted teams from 46 colleges and universities which were advanced from the District Competition, including China Agricultural University, Tianjin University, South China University of Technology, Jilin University, Ocean University of China, Northeast Forestry University and Jiangnan University, etc.

The National Competition consists of three parts: theory competition, simulation operation of food engineering, and experimental operation of food engineering principle equipment, which emphasize the application of basic professional knowledge and examine the cutting-edge knowledge of professional development, while taking into account the collaborative and innovative nature of the participating team members. After two days of intense competition, Qiu Xiaoyin, Liu Li and Yang Qi, three undergraduates of Food Science and Engineering 2021 in the College of Life Science of the University, under the guidance of Guo Qingqi, a teacher from the College of Life Science, and Cheng Qian, a teacher from the College of Materials Science and Engineer, performed brilliantly and won the first prize of the finals, which was the second time for our university to win the first prize of the National Competition (Finals).


The College of Life Science attaches great importance to the activities of students’ disciplinary competitions, which leads to the organic integration of new information technology and professional experimental teaching, comprehensively enhances the ability of university students to apply knowledge, analysis and research, communication and expression, and to solve complex engineering problems, promotes the reform of engineering education, helps the practical training, and cultivates comprehensive professionals with the comprehensive quality and ability of engineering innovation with the spirit of craftsmanship.
