Recently, the final round of the 16th “University Cup” National College Students’ Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition was held at the Science City Campus of Chongqing Jiao Tong University. A team of 12 students from NEFU’s School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, along with 3 students from the School of Landscape Architecture, participated in the competition and achieved remarkable results. They secured a first prize in the team contest for the road and bridge category, along with 11 first prizes, 1 second prize, and 2 third prizes in the advanced mapping competition. This marks NEFU’s best performance since its initial participation in the competition back in 2010.
In this competition, 742 universities nationwide, represented by 1,188 teams and 11,334 participants, have advanced to the national finals. This sets a record high for the number of participating institutions and individuals, including prestigious universities such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, National University of Defense Technology, Beihang University, Shandong University, Chongqing University, and Northwestern Polytechnical University. Due to its immense scale, fierce competition, and large participant count, this event is often referred to as the “Olympics of the Graphics World” and is one of the most influential national university competitions, earning a place in the national ranking of discipline competitions for regular universities.
The competition was divided into four categories: mechanical, architectural, hydraulic, and roads and bridges. It primarily focused on competitions related to additive manufacturing, lightweight design, digital innovation design, product innovation design, BIM (Building Information Modeling) innovation application, and digital bridge design.
Throughout the competition, faculty and students from NEFU had the opportunity to collaborate and exchange skills with participants from various teams, showcasing the robust practical skills, strong sense of innovation and teamwork among NEFU’s students.
