On October 19, the 40th Anniversary Celebration and the 21st National Academic Seminar of the Animal Infectious Diseases Branch of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine were held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The event was attended by over 1,200 renowned scholars and experts nationwide, including five academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Wang Xiaolong from NEFU’s School of Wildlife and Natural Protected Areas was honored with the title of "Outstanding Contributor of Forty Years" for his sustained contributions to wildlife disease prevention and spatial epidemiology. He is the only expert from the national forestry system engaged in wildlife disease research to receive this distinction.

Since its founding in 1984, the Animal Infectious Diseases Branch of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has become a key platform for research and public education on animal infectious diseases in China and a prominent academic organization globally in this field. The society has actively promoted research collaboration and progress in animal disease prevention and control, domestically and internationally. It currently comprises 17 institutional members and 1,640 individual members. At this anniversary event, 47 scholars were awarded "Outstanding Contributor of Forty Years."
Professor Wang Xiaolong has dedicated his career to researching wildlife disease prevention and spatial epidemiology. His theories and technical methods have received formal recognition from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, significantly advancing practices in animal disease prevention and broadening the scope of infectious disease research in China.
