On the evening of December 19, the 2025 Chinese and International Students' New Year Gala was held at the Science Hall of Northeast Forestry University. Distinguished guests included Wang Shaosong, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange at the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, and Liu Shouxin, Vice President and Standing Committee Member of the University Party Committee. The event brought together nearly a thousand attendees to celebrate the upcoming New Year, including faculty and student representatives from sister universities in Heilongjiang Province, university officials, and vice-deans from various colleges.

The gala featured a vibrant blend of Chinese and international elements: performances seamlessly combining Chinese and foreign songs, modern and classical dances, poetry recitations, and an ethnic costume showcase. Traditional cultural arts such as Kuaishu (a form of rapid storytelling) and the northeastern folk art Errenzhuan highlighted the richness of Chinese heritage. More than 100 international students from countries including Russia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Tanzania, Bangladesh, and North Korea performed alongside Chinese students from the School of Foreign Languages, creating a mesmerizing and diverse cultural spectacle.

The gala recognized outstanding achievements from 2024, presenting awards such as "Outstanding International Student," "Academic Excellence," "Outstanding Volunteer," and "Social Practice Star" to international students. Additionally, titles like "Volunteer Service Star" and "Arts and Sports Star" were awarded to students for their exemplary contributions. Liu Shouxin and other university officials presented certificates to the honorees.

As the 9th Asian Winter Games approaches, students and faculty from the College of International Education and the School of Foreign Languages delivered a heartfelt performance of The Snow of Harbin. The emotional rendition sparked a sing-along among the audience, sending warm wishes from Northeast Forestry University to the upcoming international event.

The “Connected by the Silk Road, Dreaming at Northeast Forestry University” New Year Gala has become a signature university event, fostering understanding, friendship, and mutual learning between Chinese and international students. The university remains dedicated to enriching its students' cultural and social experiences, creating more opportunities for interaction and shared growth. By doing so, Northeast Forestry University continues to contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative, crafting a unique and meaningful chapter in the spirit of cultural exchange and cooperation.
