On October 30th, the Second China-New Zealand Education Development Forum took place in Beijing. Ren Youqun, Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Education, and Shane Reti, New Zealand’s Minister for Tertiary Education as well as Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology, attended the forum and delivered speeches. President Song Wenlong of NEFU also participated in the forum at the organizers' invitation.
Co-hosted by China's Ministry of Education and New Zealand's Ministry of Education, the forum was organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange, the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Education New Zealand, and Universities New Zealand. Under the theme “Nurturing New Opportunities: Advancing China-New Zealand Education for the Future,” representatives from Chinese and New Zealand universities shared collaboration experiences, best practices, and participated in in-depth discussions on future partnership opportunities.
During the Achievements Showcase session, in the presence of ministers from both countries, President Song Wenlong and Sarah Young, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Auckland, signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen cooperation in jointly developing Aulin College. Under this Letter of Intent, the two universities will expand joint programs at the undergraduate and master’s levels, boost research collaboration, and continue to improve the quality of education.

The signing of the Letter of Intent further strengthens and deepens the partnership between NEFU and the University of Auckland. NEFU will use this opportunity to implement the guiding principles of the 14th Party Congress, continue fostering meaningful cooperation with the University of Auckland and other New Zealand universities, and support higher education collaboration between China and New Zealand.
