This subject is a first-class environmental science and engineering subject in our College, which has strengths in controlling water pollution and bio-remediation of contaminated environments, featuring the development and utilization of new nano-materials and photocatalytic oxidation technologies as well as environmental ecology. As a national key forestry 211 Engineering College and University, we mainly train the application and compound type ecological environment construction talents who have both knowledge and skills in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering basic theory, as well as those who can work independently in practicing, teaching, researching, and managing.
On the basis of three master's degree programs of environmental science, environmental engineering, and environmental engineering (degree), we are striving to establish a second-level doctoral discipline of environmental science in 2020 which will have comprehensive strength in similar disciplines, and establish a second-level doctoral discipline of environmental engineering in 2022 which will make the comprehensive discipline strength among the forefront of the national forestry colleges and Universities, establishing first-level post doctoral mobile station discipline of environmental science and engineering in 2025. Through vigorous teaching and scientific research, we make environmental science undergraduate professional education important, and enthusiastically develop graduate education.
This subject consists of environmental science, environmental engineering, two secondary subject directions, and an environmental engineering master's training direction. The main research direction of environmental science disciplines includes: new nanometer materials and the development and utilization of photocatalytic oxidation technology, environmental biotechnology, environmental ecology, and environmental planning and evaluation. The Environmental engineering discipline research direction includes: the bioremediation of water pollution control engineering, environmental pollution, and solid waste treatment and resource utilization. The environmental engineering professional master's research direction includes: development of new environmental protection materials, application of bioremediation, water pollution control engineering, environmental pollution, and environmental planning and evaluation.

He has published more than 30 SCI articles and 2 monographs. He has been selected by the ministry of education as a new century excellent talent. His research direction: new nanometer materials and the development and utilization of photocatalytic oxidation technologies.
There are 15 full-time faculty members in this subject, including 4 professors and 6 associate professors, and 5 lecturers (engineer). 10 faculty have their Ph.D., 4 have their Master’s degree, and 1 has a bachelor’s degree. There are 4 doctoral supervisors and 8 master’s tutors. The teachers tend to be of a younger age, which is conducive to a long-term development of the discipline.
2. The Advantages and Characteristics of the Discipline, Personnel Training Objectives and Quantity, the Level of Scientific Research and Achievements, etc.
Environmental science and engineering disciplines rely on undergraduate environmental science, to ensure the quality and quantity of postgraduate study of the subjects under environmental science: environmental engineering, environmental engineering (professional degree). The laboratories and experimental conditions of environmental science and engineering meet the conditions for scientific research of the graduates and undergraduates. The subject instructors are well-known experts and scholars among the province and have leading positions in studies in this field.
There are 8 research rooms with an area of more than 400 square meters, including an atomic absorption spectrometer, atomic fluorescence spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer, gas chromatograph, microelectrode research system, formaldehyde analysis instrument, microscopic imaging system, waste incineration Processing equipment, and a total of more than 200 sets of experimental equipment. There are more than 10 graduate practice innovation training bases, in order to enhance the practice of students and lay a solid foundation.
The discipline mainly focuses on new nano-materials and development of photocatalytic oxidation technology and utilization, water pollution control engineering, environmental remediation and other aspects of pollution. Related research results are applicable to local environmental protection and have been promoted in order to ensure contributions to society.
The direction and training objectives of the two postgraduate programs (Environmental science and environmental engineering) are: to cultivate students to become both literary and artistic, with practical ability, working towards the development of new environmental talents. They can be engaged in production, management, scientific research and teaching work in environmental engineering management, environmental enterprises and institutions and environmental education and other departments. These two directions cultivate 12-15 students per year.
The training objectives of environmental engineering masters are: to cultivate applied and compound talents with comprehensive skills, and to cultivate students in environmental engineering management, environmental enterprises and other departments to engage in production, management and scientific research. This direction trains about 20 students per year, including 10 full-time environmental engineering master's degree graduate students and 10 part-time environmental engineering master's degree graduate students.
Over the past five years, more than 80 teaching and research projects have been undertaken by teachers in this subject, including 8 national projects, 21 provincial and ministerial projects, 5 bureau-level projects, 4 University scientific research projects, with a total research funding of about 14 million yuan. Full-time teachers have published more than 560 academic papers, of which 106 are indexed by SCI, and 149 indexed by EI. The have been issued more than 40 Patents, and published more than 50 monographs and teaching materials.
