Statistics was founded in 1986 and recruited statistical college students. The bachelor of statistics was established in 1998, and the master degree in statistics was established in 2003 as the first statistical master’s program in Heilongjiang province. We obtained the first-level discipline of master’s degree in statistics in 2011. The teaching team has deep academic attainments, are well-known, and dedicated. After 30 years of hard work in statistics, the discipline has trained a large number of statistical talents for society, also making important contributions to local economic development, and enjoying a high reputation in Heilongjiang province.

1. The Positioning and Target of this Discipline, Direction Settings of Discipline, Academic Leaders and Academic Echelon.

1) The Positioning and Target of Discipline

The main research directions of the Statistics Discipline are Statistical Theory and Methods, Forestry Resources and Environment Statistics and Macroeconomic Statistics. Based in Heilongjiang province, looking out toward the country, introducing advanced statistical education research concepts, grasping the characteristics of the industry, the comprehensive strength of statistics is leading the pack in domestic forestry universities, and has a high influence in its profession. On the basis of keeping the existing advantages and good reputation in Heilongjiang province, making strength to build a provincial first-class subject and having a significant impact in domestic agriculture and forestry universities.

2) The Direction of the Discipline

   The Direction of Statistical Theory and Methods

Main research areas: Basic theory and method of statistics, qualitative variables statistical analysis, comprehensive evaluation and application of statistics, theory and application of statistical indicators, statistical theory frontier issues, etc. Encourage postgraduates to master the basic theory of statistics, understand the development dynamics and application prospects of statistical theory and method, and have a certain degree of scientific research and practical ability.

   The Direction of Forestry Resources and Environment Statistics

Main research areas: Based on the statistical measurement and accounting of the relationship among forestry resources, forestry environment and economy, using the statistical methods to describe the status of forestry resources and environment itself, using the statistical measurement of the impact of various social and economic activities and other natural phenomena. Focusing on the analysis of economic processes on the using effect and value accounting of resources and environment, and studying the accounting and comprehensive evaluation of forestry ecological benefits. The applied research of estimating the value of various ecological service functions of forest resources.

   The Direction of Macroeconomic Statistics

Main research areas: Macro and micro economic statistical system, including statistical analysis applications of macro national economic statistical analysis, market surveys, etc. Statistical index system and evaluation method, using applied statistics and quantitative economical methods, focusing on the establishment of various economic phenomena and the statistical indicator system, the statistical measurement of regional economic coordination and circular economy, the transition of the resource depletion growth mode and economic development mode, the environmental protection industry competitiveness, etc.

3) The Academic Leaders and Academic Echelon

Academic leaders: Lv Jiehua, female, Professor, Doctor of Management, doctoral tutor, famous teacher in Heilongjiang province, and outstanding teacher in Heilongjiang province. She is the executive director of the China Statistical Society, vice president of the Statistical Society of Heilongjiang province, vice president of the Statistical Society of Harbin, vice president of the Field Statistical Society of Heilongjiang province.

Academic faculty: This discipline has a faculty reasonable knowledge structure, title structure, and educational structure. There are 8 teachers in this group, including 2 professors, 5 associate professors and a lecturer. There is one doctoral tutor and 6 master’s degree tutors. Six of them have doctoral degrees, 2 have master’s degree and 2 have studied abroad.

2. The Advantages and Characteristics of this Discipline, Target and Quantity of Talents Development, Level and Results of Scientific Research.

1) The Advantages and Characteristics of this Discipline

Advantages:①We have a strong teaching and research team of reasonable structure. It is an ecology, environment, statistics cross-disciplinary teaching and research team. There are 8 teachers in this team, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors and 2 lecturers. 5 of them have doctoral degrees. There are 4 teachers who have been teaching and researching statistics for nearly 30 years in this team, and have accumulated rich experience.②Outstanding achievements in scientific research. We presided over 5 national projects, more than 30 provincial projects, more than 40 bureau-level projects. Scientific research funds are more than¥3,000,000 in the past five years. There are 6 published monographs and more than 200 papers of Chinese core journals published in Statistical Research, China Soft Science and Forest Science and other important journals. We have been awarded 8 provincial awards and 7 humanities and social science awards of provincial universities.

Characteristics:Relying on the advantages of forestry disciplines and geographical advantages of being located in the key state-owned forest region in our country, it has the following characteristics:①Broad research areas of macroeconomic statistics. Macroeconomic statistics is a new growth point of the research of this discipline, and the development prospect is broad. Using applied statistics and economics and quantitative methods, focusing on the establishment of various economic phenomena and the statistical indicators system, regional economic coordination and statistical measurements of a circular economy, the transition of the resource depletion growth mode and economic development mode, the improvement of development and competitiveness of environmental protection industry, etc.②Exploring Forestry resources and ecological statistical measurements by focusing on the northeast stated-owned forest region, based on the statistical measurement and evaluation of forest resources and ecology, mainly on the basis of statistical variables of forestry resources status and change. According to the characteristics of forestry resources, we study the scientific classification and quantitative index system of forest resources, the comprehensive evaluation of various forestry resources, the estimation of the value of various service functions of forest resources, etc.

2) The Target of Talents Development

Graduate students of this discipline should master a solid foundation of statistical theory and systematic expertise, with a more solid foundation of economic theory, be able to apply statistical analysis to real economic issues, quantify economic relationships, and use statistical modeling. They should also be able to independently engage in statistical scientific research or undertake technical work. After graduation, they can undertake high-level statistical and analytical work and management of the government, enterprises and financial institutions, or continue their education.

3) The Level and Results of Scientific Research

In scientific research, the discipline team has engaged in statistical theory, macroeconomics and forestry resources and environment statistics teaching and research work for a long time, and they have accumulated rich research results. Since 2010, we have presided over one National Natural Science Foundation project, one National Development and Reform Commission project, 3 National Bureau of Statistics projects, 8 projects of the Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Provincial Soft Science Research, and Provincial Social Science Foundation projects. We also undertook more than 10 cross-lateral research projects, won 1 first award of Philosophy and Social Science in Heilongjiang province and 5 other provincial awards, published more than 60 papers in China Soft Science, Forestry Science and other journals and published 3 books.

3. The Main Impact of the Discipline at Home and Abroad and Social Services

1) The Main Impact at Home and Abroad

Since 1986, when the recruitment of students majoring in statistics began, the discipline has always based on discipline construction and teaching staff construction, as the first one to be the first-level discipline of master of statistics in 2011. Based on the local economic construction, we actively assume the National Bureau of Statistics research projects and China's economic census projects. Cooperating with statistical theory of Heilongjiang province and Bureau of Statistics of Heilongjiang province in scientific research for a long time, we are becoming a statistical think tank of Heilongjiang province. The academic leader also leads the Standing Committee of the Chinese Statistical Society, is the vice president of the Statistical Society of Heilongjiang province, and the vice president of Statistics of Harbin along with other positions.

2) The Contribution of Social Services

The research contents of this discipline are widely used in the field of economics and management, and provide scientific support for social development, government decision-making and enterprise management in the fields of forestry, agriculture, sociology, etc. In recent years, this discipline has served the local economy, specifically in forestry economy where great achievements were made through statistics. Good study results came from the collection of data and data development from three census projects: the census of the national statistical system, the agricultural census, and an economic census. Several projects provide references for forestry management in Heilongjiang province, especially for state-owned forest areas.
