On the afternoon of November 2nd, an online meeting was held by NEFU and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.

Natalia Surikova, Vice President of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Angelina Ossipova, head of the Network University Cooperation Program, and Yelena Savenkova, Dean of the College of Ecology, attended the online meeting. Li Shunlong, Vice President of NEFU, together with leaders of the Graduate School, International Cooperation Office, School of International Education and Exchanges, and the School of Forestry participated the meeting. Li made a brief introduction of NEFU and its international exchanges. He also reviewed the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities since 2020. He said that NEFU always attached importance to the cooperation with Peoples’ Friendship University and called for more extensive and pragmatic exchanges and cooperation in teacher exchanges, joint training of students and scientific research cooperation under the framework of the BRICS Network Universities.

Natalia also introduced the basic situation of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, and achievements in internationalization and the cooperation plan under the framework of the BRICS Network Universities. She said that our two universities had a sound foundation and broad space for cooperation, so in the next five years, the two universities could carry out in-depth cooperation in more fields, especially in the Double Degree (Master of Ecology) program under the framework of the BRICS Network.

The two sides have reached an agreement on cooperation in science and education under the framework of the BRICS Network and the 2022-2027 work plan. Two universities also had in-depth discussion on the Double Degree (Master of Ecology) program in the meeting.

Founded in 1960, the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia is one of the national comprehensive universities in Russia. According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, it gets the third place in the combined ranking and the second place in faculty force among Russian universities. And it ranks the 295th in the QS World University Rankings for 2023.
