From March 22nd to 25th, the 23rd National Collegiate Robotics Competition, the RoboMaster Collegiate Championship (Liaoning Regional), concluded successfully at Northeastern University. NEFU's team, Ares Robotics, leveraging exceptional robotic performance and outstanding teamwork, secured the championship in the 3v3 combat category, successfully defending their title from 2023.

The RoboMaster Collegiate Championship is organized by local academic institutions and universities and attracts participants from surrounding colleges. Its goal is to foster the exchange of robotics technology among regional universities, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere and supporting technological innovation in the region. Teams can also advance to a super combat competition through a points system. As one of the most influential and challenging robotics competitions in the country, it draws elite teams from numerous universities. This year’s competition featured two events: infantry combat and 3v3 combat, attracting teams from more than thirty universities nationwide, including Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, and Northeastern University.

The Ares Robotics Team of NEFU was established in 2014. Over the past decade, with substantial support from the School of Undergraduate Studies and the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, a highly selective process led to the formation of a 40-member undergraduate team specializing in robotics research and development. The team is comprised of students from diverse disciplines, such as the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Computer and Control Engineering, and the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering. During their competition preparations, team members independently develop various types of robots, including omnidirectional infantry robots, balanced infantry robots, hero robots, and fully automatic sentinel robots, and also manage the team’s operations. Guided by their instructors, the team members embody the spirit of the new era, diligently dedicating themselves to the development and training of robots. They sacrifice weekends and holidays to collaboratively finalize designs for structures, hardware, and algorithms. They personally assemble and calibrate the competition robots, and continually refine and upgrade their designs. Their relentless efforts and innovative spirit in the RoboMaster Collegiate Series have consistently achieved outstanding results and brought prestige to their university.
