On April 27, 2024, the 17th China University Student Computer Design Competition (Heilongjiang Provincial Level) was successfully held at Northeast Forestry University. The event, a testament to its growth and success, brought together an impressive 397 teams from 38 universities across the province, setting new milestones in both scale and quality.
The competition, strategically aligned with national priorities, played a pivotal role in the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China. It expedited the development of new productivity and bolstered growth momentum. The event, featuring 11 major categories and 43 subcategories, was all about the “Four New Economies”: the digital economy, the biological economy, the ice and snow economy, and the creative design economy. This strategic focus was instrumental in identifying and nurturing innovative young talents, providing intellectual support for the “Six Longjiang” development and the creation of the “Seven Metropolises”. The event was organized by the Heilongjiang Provincial Higher Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Steering Committee and the China University Student Computer Design Competition Heilongjiang Provincial Level Organizing Committee and hosted by the School of Computer and Control Engineering at Northeast Forestry University.
The opening ceremony was attended by Li Mingze, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President of NEFU, along with deans of computer-related colleges from universities across the province and over a thousand representatives of participating students and teachers. Zhuang Wenpei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Dean of the School of Computer and Control Engineering, hosted the opening ceremony.
Li Mingze, in his welcome speech at the opening ceremony, underscored the competition’s role in promoting teaching, practice, and innovation. He emphasized that the event is a platform for fostering technological talents that meet national strategic needs and contribute significantly to the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.
Other speakers at the opening ceremony included Zheng Dequan, Director of the Organizing Committee of the Heilongjiang Provincial Level Competition and Dean of the School of Computer and Information Engineering at Harbin University of Commerce; Huang Siqi, Manager of the Education Technology Division at Harbin Tianhai Guangna Technology Development Co., Ltd.; and He Yixiao, an undergraduate student from the School of Computer and Control Engineering. They expressed their hopes for empowering the development of new productivity through technological innovation in universities.
The competition concluded with a resounding success, with participants earning 39 first prizes, 75 second prizes, and 124 third prizes. These remarkable achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the participants, inspiring us all with their innovative projects. Notably, outstanding projects from the undergraduate group will be recommended for the national finals of the China University Student Computer Design Competition, further highlighting the excellence of our students.
The China University Student Computer Design Competition, a testament to our commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, began in 2007, with the first event being held in 2008. Over the past 16 years, it has hosted 80 competitions and is ranked among the top university student competitions in China. This long-standing success and recognition are a testament to the credibility and value of the competition, providing a platform for university students to enhance their employability, professional skills, and innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities. It strives to cultivate well-rounded individuals with a deep understanding of teamwork and an entrepreneurial spirit.
