The College of Humanities and Law was founded in 1952.There are 4 undergraduate majors: Law,Political Science and Public Administration, Advertising, and Social Work. The discipline of law has the right to confer master's degrees in first-level disciplines. Among them, there are five second-level disciplines, including constitutional and administrative law, civil and commercial law, environmental and resource protection law, criminal law and sociology of law. It also has a Master’s of law professional degree authorization stand.Currently, there are 16 teaching and research centers including 1 practice teaching center, 1 Environmental and Resources Protection Law Research Center, and 1 Northeast Forestry University Legal Aid Center. There are more than 1000 undergraduate and graduate students in total.
Faculty
There are 67 full-time teachers, including 11 professors, 25 associate professors, and 30 lecturers. Among them, 37 teachers hold Ph.D. degrees, accounting for 56% of all teachers. In addition, the college has employed more than 10 academics, judges, prosecutors, arbitrators and lawyers with deep academic attainment and rich practical experience from various legal backgrounds.
Practical teaching and practice teaching center construction:
The university and college focus on the importance of practical teaching in the work of personnel training, with special funds to support students in engaging in various competitions. In recent years, students have shown outstanding performance in these activities. Students from Law major and Advertising major participated in the Northeast University Mock Court Competition, the "Times Golden Calf Award" Advertising Competition (the largest Chinese students in the global creative advertising contest) and the Ministry of Education National College Students Art Competition and other high-level practice contest. They all had wonderful achievements.
The Practice Teaching Center aims to serve the development and personnel training needs of four undergraduate majors and five law disciplines. The one-time investment in construction funds is over 4 million RMB.
Each year, the college sends many students abroad for international exchange studies. In 2016, the college became the first batch of international talents training spots. Now it has signed a joint training agreement with the University of Western Australia in law, advertising, and social work for its undergraduate 2 + 2 programs.
