On May 20, the 5th National University Structural Design Information Technology Contest came to a successful conclusion, and the team sent by the NEFU School of Civil Engineering and Transportation won two national second prizes and three national third prizes in the Group A (postgraduate and undergraduate group) competition.

The National University Structural Design Information Technology Contest is co-sponsored by the Education Working Committee of the Chinese Civil Engineering Society, the Tsinghua University School of Civil Engineering and Water Resources, the South China University of Technology School of Civil Engineering and Transportation , the Harbin Institute of Technology School of Civil Engineering, the Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology School of Civil Engineering, the Guangdong Civil Engineering and Construction Society and the Guangdong Architectural Design and Research Institute. The aim of the contest is to build a practical platform for engineering education in universities, further cultivate college students’ sense of innovation, teamwork and practical engineering ability, and effectively improve the quality of training of innovative talents. This is one of the most influential events in the field of civil engineering for domestic universities. The contest has been successfully held for the past five years, with new topics, new examination points and new industry hot technologies each time. This year’s contest is entitled “Complex Structure Modelling and Structural Design Overrun Review and Analysis”, with additional examination points such as the design of single-story plant with a portal steel frame. A total of 2,266 teams from 328 universities across China registered for the contest.

NEFU attaches great importance to this contest, and 10 teams were carefully selected to participate. The contest reflected the professionalism, learning ability and positive attitude of NEFU students, and has been a good catalyst for professional development.
