Recently, the 2023 China Robot Competition and RoboCup Robot World Cup China Tournament kicked off in Jinjiang, Fujian. The NEFU College of Computer and Control Engineering secured a National First Prize in the final competition of the Agricultural Robot Water-saving Irrigation Robot project, marking a historic breakthrough for NEFU in this competition.

The competition, organized by the Chinese Association of Automation, RoboCup China Committee, Jinjiang Municipal Government, and Quanzhou Science and Technology Bureau, attracted the participation of 1084 teams from 260 universities, including Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, Beihang University, and Beijing Institute of Technology, as well as 89 teams from 49 primary and secondary schools. The total number of participants in the competition reached 5426, setting a record for the highest number of universities and participating teams in the history of the competition.

In recent years, the College of Computer and Control Engineering has continuously strengthened competition guidance, advocating a talent development model of "promoting teaching and learning through competitions." This approach has greatly promoted the cultivation of undergraduate students' practical engineering abilities, teamwork, and innovation and spirit of entrepreneurship. The guidance team of teachers has persistently adhered to a model of “step-by-step progression, guided pathways, and mentoring the new” throughout the training for the competition. Students under their guidance have repeatedly achieved good results in various high-level disciplinary competitions.

This event is currently one of the most influential, authoritative, and technically advanced robotics competitions in China. Held annually since its inaugural competition in 1999, it has been held for 24 consecutive sessions. In February 2020, the competition successfully made it into the national ranking of ordinary university discipline competitions published by the China Higher Education Society. The competition aims to build the best platform for innovative talent development, cultivating students’ theoretical and applied abilities, and engineering practical capabilities. In recent years, it has trained numerous outstanding talents who have entered relevant scientific research and corporate positions, gradually expanding the scale and influence of the competition.
