Recently, NEFU received a letter of appreciation from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Heilongjiang Provincial Government, praising NEFU’s students for their outstanding performance during the 8th China-Russia Expo.
This year, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Russia and the 10th anniversary of the China-Russia Expo, it’s a momentous occasion. To support the province’s overall efforts and respond to the call of the Heilongjiang Provincial Government’s Foreign Affairs Office, the School of Foreign Languages at Northeast Forestry University selected over 20 volunteers. These volunteers hosted the high-level Russian delegation, managed attendees’ flow at the expo, coordinated with the media, and completed all assigned tasks. During the expo, NEFU volunteers, led by Zhou Zheng, actively worked and embodied the spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress.” They diligently practiced the principles of volunteer service and successfully handled the reception duties for the high-level Russian delegation.
Staff from the Heilongjiang Provincial Government’s Foreign Affairs Office praised the NEFU volunteers for their full participation and outstanding performance. They noted that the volunteers were proactive, hardworking, and uncomplaining, assisting the delegations with various tasks. The volunteers enthusiastically shared stories of Heilongjiang, showcasing modern college students’ sense of responsibility, problem-solving skills, and pursuit of excellence. Their efforts allowed the visiting guests to genuinely experience the hospitality and sincerity of the people of Heilongjiang, enhancing their willingness and confidence to cooperate with the province. The reception work received unanimous praise from the foreign guests.
Zhou Zheng, a junior majoring in Russian at the School of Foreign Languages, was fully involved in the reception of the high-level Russian delegation. He said, “As someone studying Russian, I feel incredibly proud and fortunate to have participated in this volunteer work. In the future, I will continue to work hard to contribute to China-Russia exchanges and cooperation and shine in foreign languages.”
Yihang, a first-year master’s student in Russian at the School of Foreign Languages, shared, “My volunteer experience with the Heilongjiang Provincial Foreign Affairs Office was unforgettable. During this time, I improved my Russian communication and practical skills. Serving the delegations helped me deeply understand the significance of the China-Russia Expo in promoting friendly exchanges between the two countries. I will continue to contribute to China-Russia exchanges in the future.”
The outstanding performance of NEFU volunteers added highlights to the expo and significantly promoted friendly exchanges between China and other countries. Their work showcased the warmth and hospitality of the people of Harbin and demonstrated the fruitful results of practical education at NEFU. The School of Foreign Languages will continue to support the revitalization and development of Heilongjiang, contributing to the local economic and social development with NEFU’s strength.
