On October 17, the 26th National College Badminton Championship (Northern Region) concluded successfully at the Xi’an Jiaotong University Gymnasium. NEFU’s team celebrated a historic breakthrough, winning the women’s singles and doubles championships and taking third place in the women’s team category.
This competition, organized by the Chinese Student Sports Federation and hosted by Xi’an Jiaotong University, drew teams from nearly 40 universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and Beijing University of Post and Telecommunication, with over 200 athletes competing. NEFU’s team consisted of one male player and five female players. After seven intense days of competition, the team achieved an impressive third place in the women’s team event. In individual events, Xia Jiabin from the School of Landscape Architecture won the women’s singles title and, together with Hong Aoxue from the School of Forestry, clinched the women’s doubles championship.
Coach Liang Fusheng shared that, despite the short training period and high intensity of preparation, the team faced significant challenges from injuries, and, as it was their first time competing nationally, they also needed more experience. However, the players showed an admirable spirit of resilience, fighting hard and striving to win. Their efforts paid off with remarkable results, embodying the spirit of NEFU students. This competition not only strengthened the team and allowed them to gain valuable experience but also brought honor to the university. Player Xia Jiabin reflected, “Injuries before the match did have some impact, but with my coach and teammates' constant support and encouragement, I felt confident representing our university. Everything turned out perfectly—I have no regrets and am proud to have delivered a satisfying result for the team.”
