The 20th China Model United Nations Conference, organized by the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China) with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was hosted by Northeast Normal University. First launched in 2004, this conference is China’s most authoritative Model UN event, closely emulating the structure and values of the United Nations. Its mission is to promote UN principles among university students, increase awareness of UN functions, and nurture globally-minded youth equipped to engage in international governance. This year’s four-day conference included over 300 student representatives, observers, and advisors from more than 70 universities nationwide.

Before the conference, NEFU students extensively researched relevant topics, deepening their understanding and refining their position papers and preliminary reports. They also actively communicated with other committee representatives, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming sessions.
During the four-day conference, NEFU students Xu Jichen and Huang Tinglei served as representatives of the Main News Center, assigned to the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and UNESCO, respectively. They focused on “Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development Goals” and “Regulating Generative AI in Education.” Carefully listening to the speeches, they identified vital news angles and diligently composed multiple news briefs, interviews, and editorials. Their hard work, dedication, and contributions to advancing the conference’s objectives earned them high praise from the Secretariat.
Meanwhile, Zhang Chengyi and Wang Ting, representing UNESCO, engaged in in-depth discussions, negotiations, and collaborations with other delegates. They presented thoughtful and unique perspectives on key discussion points and draft resolutions, contributing to broad consensus-building. Their efforts demonstrated NEFU students' well-rounded skills, global perspective, and sense of responsibility.
