The College of Computer and Control Engineering at Northeast Forestry University was established in June 1999 through the merger of the Computer Science and Technology program from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Applied Electronic Technology and Computational Mathematics teaching and research sections from the Normal College, and the Information Technology Center. In April 2023, the college was reorganized and renamed, incorporating select disciplines and programs from the former College of Information and Computer Engineering and the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Currently, the college has 3,707 full-time students, including 2,758 undergraduates and 949 postgraduate students, making it the largest student population among all colleges and departments in the university.
The college consistently upholds its fundamental mission of “fostering virtue through education”, guided by its motto of “self-strengthening, pragmatism, academic excellence, and enterprising spirit”. Adhering to the operational principles of “people-oriented development, talent-driven growth, quality enhancement, and distinctive advancement”, the college has established an educational philosophy centered on “prioritizing innovative education and emphasizing connotative development”, alongside a modern talent cultivation model integrating “knowledge, competence, and quality” as a unified trinity.
The college emphasizes nurturing students’ innovative thinking, creative capabilities, and entrepreneurial mindset while prioritizing training in practical engineering skills. It encourages students to continuously engage in scientific and technological competitions to enhance their hands-on abilities.
As a grassroots party organization, the party building work aims to innovate consciousness, spirit, thinking, and grassroots party building as guiding principles. It seeks to gather the Party’s strength in talent training and professional development, fully exploiting its political core and supervisory roles. This new pattern of party-building work is intended to promote the college’s various initiatives and achieve new growth. In 2024, the College Party Committee was approved to cultivate and create the “National Party Building Benchmarking Institution,” and in 2024, the “Party Building Benchmarking Institution in Public Universities” in Heilongjiang Province.
The college currently has 160 faculty and staff members, including 124 full-time teachers, with over 75% holding doctoral degrees. The faculty comprises 20 professors, 63 associate professors, 26 doctoral advisors, and 109 master’s advisors. Additionally, the college employs 12 adjunct professors from domestic and international institutions, one appointed Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) academician, and one flexibly appointed specially-invited professor. Honors include two recipients of the State Council Special Allowance, two scholars supported by the New Century Excellent Talents Program, 1 Heilongjiang Provincial Teaching Excellence Award recipient, 1 Northeast Forestry University Teaching Excellence Award recipient, 2 Young Teaching Excellence Award recipients, and two faculty members honored as "Model Individuals for Teacher Ethics" by Heilongjiang Province’s higher education institutions.
