Hainan International College of Northeast Forestry University (HIC-NEFU) is a secondary college of Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) established in the Lingshui Li’an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone, Hainan Province, under the Cooperation Agreement between the Hainan Provincial Department of Education and Northeast Forestry University signed in February 2024. Officially inaugurated in the Pilot Zone on May 15, 2024, HIC-NEFU is a vital international exchange platform and window for NEFU. Leveraging Hainan’s geographic, resource, and policy advantages, as well as NEFU’s strengths in fields such as smart forestry, ecology, information technology, "dual carbon" goals, carbon sink economy, and its one-to-many partnerships with overseas universities for high-quality educational resources, the college acts as a strategic pivot to support national development strategies and advance the growth of the Hainan Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics.

HIC-NEFU aims to cultivate students and faculty with international competitiveness, promote academic research, serve society, and enhance global exchanges and collaboration. Guided by the principle of "introducing high-quality educational resources and improving talent cultivation standards," the college adheres to the objectives of high starting-point positioning, high-standard operation, and high-level talent development. It upholds the fundamental task of moral education and talent cultivation, deepens cooperative innovation, and drives the training of high-caliber professionals and faculty.

HIC-NEFU’s Overseas Learning Center collaborates closely with NEFU’s partner universities, including the University of Auckland (New Zealand), University of Technology Sydney (Australia), University of Western Australia, and James Cook University. These institutions will enroll students in related disciplines in China and provide first-year training at the Overseas Learning Center. Courses are delivered through a hybrid teaching model (online and offline) by faculty from the partner universities, with instructional support from NEFU teachers. The center plans to enroll approximately 200 students annually.
