Established in 1959, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is one of the most prominent engineering colleges at Northeast Forestry University. It serves as the birthplace of China’s forestry and woodworking machinery research. In 2023, the university implemented integrated development strategies for education, technology, and talent, accelerating the optimization of disciplinary structures and promoting high-quality development in higher education. The Agricultural and Forestry Intelligent Equipment Engineering program (previously known as Forest Engineering) and the Vehicle Engineering program were incorporated into the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. This integration resulted in a distinctive and competitive cluster of mechanical disciplines, effectively supporting the construction of a high-caliber talent pool and driving high-quality talent cultivation.
The college offers five undergraduate programs: Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Mechatronic Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Agricultural and Forestry Intelligent Equipment Engineering, and Robotics Engineering. Equipped with fully functional teaching, research, and student innovation centers, the institution has seen its students consistently achieve outstanding results in various scientific and technological innovation competitions. Employers and society have recognized the importance of talent cultivation.
The college has a first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point in Mechanical Engineering. It has established a postdoctoral research mobile station that is designated as a key discipline in Heilongjiang Province. It offers six doctoral research directions, including Mechanical Design and Theory. The institution possesses a first-level discipline master's degree authorization point in Mechanical Engineering, encompassing five academic research directions, including Mechanical Design and Theory. Regarding professional degree categories, it maintains one professional degree classification in Mechanical Engineering, covering five professional degree fields including Mechanical Engineering, etc.
The college has established a series of stable and distinctive research directions, including Forestry Intelligent Equipment, Intelligent Detection and Control of Forestry Operation Processes, Cold Region Operation Chassis and Intelligent Driving, Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotic Technology, and Mechatronics Technology. This framework has created a scientific system that organically integrates fundamental research with applied research, engineering applications, and industrial development.
The college is home to China’s sole National Woodworking Machinery Quality Inspection and Testing Center. It possesses a comprehensive array of high-caliber practical teaching platforms, including an Engineering Practice Training Center, National-level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, National-level Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center, and College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. The institution boasts superior educational facilities and maintains an exceptional faculty team.
The college actively engages in international exchanges and cooperation, establishing collaborative relationships with multiple universities in the United States, France, South Korea, and other countries. Additionally, it has signed inter-university exchange agreements with institutions such as Tunghai University, I-Shou University, and National Dong Hwa University in the Taiwan region of China, further promoting global academic collaboration.
In the new historical era, all the college’s faculty and students will unite in concerted efforts, strive with determination, and carry forward the NEFU Spirit of “unity and hard work, self-motivation, leveraging strengths, and striving for excellence” as well as the Electromechanical Spirit of “unyielding perseverance and pioneering innovation.” We are committed to building a high-level academic institution, nurturing innovative talents, and supporting the high-quality development of national and local economic and social sectors.
