Through persistent efforts, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has established several stable and distinctive research directions, including Forestry and Woodworking Machinery, Intelligent Equipment for Forestry, Intelligent Manufacturing in Forestry Engineering, Bioinformation Detection, New Energy Power Generation Technology for Forest Areas, Development and Utilization of Forest Biomass Energy, and Mechatronics Technology. This has created a scientific system that organically integrates fundamental and applied research, engineering applications, and industrial development.
The college has undertaken more than 400 scientific research projects, which include the National High-Tech Research and Development Program (863 Program), the National Science and Technology Support Program, the “948” Project of the State Forestry Administration, the National Forestry Public Welfare Industry Research Special Project, and initiatives from the National Natural Science Foundation, with total contract funding exceeding 40 million yuan. Its academic achievements include publishing over 1,000 research papers, more than 50 academic monographs and textbooks, and acquiring over 100 national patents. The college actively engages in industry-academia collaboration and international exchanges, having established partnerships with over 50 domestic enterprises and more than a dozen renowned universities and research institutions in countries such as the United States, Japan, and Russia.
