The Agricultural and Forestry Intelligent Equipment Engineering program is a newly upgraded discipline established to meet the needs of national and regional economic-social development while highlighting the university’s distinctive strengths. Originating in 1952 as Forest Engineering, it has evolved into a national first-class undergraduate and specialty program and has consistently ranked first (A++) in national professional evaluations for years. Renowned for its top-tier faculty and academic research in China, the program enjoys international prestige and has cultivated numerous outstanding talents for the nation and society. In March 2024, the Ministry of Education officially approved it as the Agricultural and Forestry Intelligent Equipment Engineering program.
By leveraging platforms like the National Key Discipline in Forest Engineering, the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Forest Engineering, and the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Forest Engineering, the program was designated a Heilongjiang Province Key Construction Program in 2005, incorporated into the National Specialty Program Construction in 2009, selected for the Heilongjiang Province Outstanding Agricultural Talent Education and Training Program in 2013, and included in the National Outstanding Agriculture and Forestry Talent Training Program in 2014. After over half a century of development and digital-intelligent transformation, the program has established a unique training system, becoming a key national base for scientific research and talent development in forestry engineering and grassland intelligent equipment, with responsibilities that span teaching, research, and production services.
Focusing on scientific frontiers and critical technologies to advance the high-quality development of new productive forces, the program elevates the digitalization, intelligence, and modernization of agricultural and forestry equipment. Building on the university’s disciplinary strengths in agriculture and forestry, as well as its expertise in forest engineering, forestry machinery, and intelligent equipment, it aims to cultivate high-caliber innovators with patriotic spirit, strong social responsibility, professional ethics, humanistic literacy, and well-rounded development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education. Graduates will possess robust foundations in mathematics and physics, interdisciplinary expertise in mechanical-electrical engineering, control systems, and artificial intelligence, exceptional innovation capabilities, engineering practice skills, communication skills, and teamwork abilities. They will be qualified for scientific research, product design, technological development, and management in agricultural and forestry intelligent equipment, smart manufacturing systems, robotics, and electromechanical products.
